Readily Biodegradable
All Qual Chem products are designed to easily biodegrade using linear chain chemistry. We have committed ourselves to producing formulas and products that will readily biodegrade according to EPA standards.
Reclaim Friendly
Our chemistry has the ability to work in a closed loop reclaim system. We have your equipment and communities at the forefront of our mind when formulating our products to be as reclaim friendly as possible.
EPA Compliant
We commit to working with all municipalities where our customers operate to ensure standards and requirements are met when it comes to our products, reducing the amount of fresh water used, and providing safe discharge water.
Created Without HF
We never have and never will use Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) or its derivatives, Ammonium Bifluoride or Sodium Bifluoride, in any of our products.
Created Without NPE
We also will not create products using Nonylphenol Ethoxylates (NPE) which is common in detergents but is not readily biodegradable or safe for wildlife and humans.

What does biodegradable mean?
As defined by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), products are considered “Readily Biodegradable” when they have the natural ability to biodegrade to their natural state, when subjected to sunlight, water and microbial activity, from 60-100% in 28 days.
These terms are important for anyone formulating with eco-friendliness in mind. For decades, the workhorse surfactant family for detergents, degreasers and hard surface cleaners has been nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs). These have been under great scrutiny for some time because they are in fact not readily biodegradable and tend to persist in wildlife and humans. The jury is still out on the dangers of this presence, but evidence suggests that NPEs are not completely harmless.
The good news for animals, fish and people is that Qual Chem offers formulations utilizing alternatives to NPEs.
